What is the current situation at the Frankfurt financial centre? How did it perform in recent months? What does the near future look like? And how does the financial centre perform in international comparison?
On this point, the regularly collected data of the two Frankfurt universities provide a lot of information.
Frankfurt Main Finance has – on the basis of the new database "Frankfurt – Partner for Emerging Financial Centres" – developed a comprehensive model of the financial centre for promoting Frankfurt’s financial services worldwide.
The CFS Financial Center Index dropped by only 0.9 point to 107.5 since the last reporting. This demonstrates that business climate in the German financial sector remains stable in the first quarter of 2012. Both the assessment of the performance in the last quarter, as well as the outlook for the current developments indicate a stable situation in all surveyed enterprises.
After a strong recovery in the beginning of the year, the development of the financial center Frankfurt has stabilized in the following two quarters on a slightly lower level. After an index level of 108.6 in the 2nd quarter the Financial Center Barometer now stands at 106.7 points.
The financial center Frankfurt is a highly attractive location for foreign banks. This is the conclusion drawn from the findings of the current Financial Center Survey carried out by Helaba. The Survey confirms the high degree of internationality of the German financial center and its good prospects of further development in the international competition.
