Difficult market conditions are clear for all to see:

• Some banks continue to operate recruitment freezes.
• Very few vacancies are filled by external candidates.

However, the economy will not shrink quite so dramatically as was feared at the start of the year, and the demand for debt capital is more likely to increase rather than decrease. The saving ratio is increasing and along with it comes a greater demand for a decent return and safe forms of investment.

At the present time, however, our daily market surveys continue to show only limited job opportunities. On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 = low opportunities, 5 = high and ongoing opportunities) we are currently seeing an average of only 2.3.
