24 September 2009: Frankfurt clearly increases score in the Global Financial Centres Index - Main metropolis comes through the crisis well - Asian with enormous growth

In a turbulent competitive environment in the last half year, the Frankfurt financial centre was able to more than maintain ground. It was able to increase its score more strongly than the front runners London and New York. However, Asian financial centres grew even stronger.

In the sixth issue of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI), the ranking list of the most important world financial centres, Frankfurt now ranks as 12th place, after 8th place one half year ago. While, among the Top 4 financial centres, the balances of power mostly continued as the same, four financial centres from the area of Asia/Oceania (Shenzen (5th place), Tokyo (7th), Shanghai (10th) and Sydney (11th)) were able to move in front of Frankfurt. For its part, Frankfurt continues to clearly lie in front of its important competitor, Paris (19), and, in terms of German domestic competition, Munich (30).

A delegation from Frankfurt, including Hessen's Economic Minister Dieter Posch and presiding chairman Lutz Raettig, travelled to Moscow on June 23.
